Operation Helping Hands

I just have a few thoughts about our "Operation Helping Hands" projects at FBC. By the end of the summer, we will have had the privilege to change oil in the cars of single moms, make home repairs and do yard work for those in need, provide school supplies for children in San Juan County, and provide smoke detector batteries for numerous homes in the Bloomfield area. I see this as the church being the church. Yes we will continue to give attention to spiritual needs. We will also continue to follow the model of Jesus' ministry and give attention to the whole person.

Let's Keep Being the Church,

Craig

Helping Hands

FBC Bloomfield recently conducted a Single Mom's Oil Change. Additional ways we will share "Helping Hands" this summer are through A Home Repair Project, School Supply Give-a-Way, and Smoke Detector Battery Give-a-Way in the community. Below are some pics from our oil change.

TRIBES

On a recent trip to New York I picked up a book called "Tribes - We Need You to Lead Us." The author presents the basic premise of the book as follows: "If you think leadership is only for other people, you're wrong. We need YOU to lead us." A tribe is described by the author as a group of people connected to one another, connected to a leader, and connected to an idea. I want to share a quote from the book concerning the posture of a leader.

If you hear my idea but don't believe it, that's not your fault; it's mine.

If you see my new product but don't buy it, that's my fault, not yours.

If you attend my presentation and you're bored, that's my fault too.

If I fail to persuade you to implement a policy that supports my tribe, that's due to my lack of passion or skill, not your shortsightedness.

If you are a student in my class and you don't learn what I'm teaching, I've let you Down.

It is a common thing to blame others for our lack of effort, passion, or vision. Let me conclude with one final quote by the author, "You get to choose who understands."

It's Been a While

Things have been very busy this summer, but we are having an awesome time engaging in ministry at FBC Bloomfield. As most of you know, we were in the Chicago area earlier this month as our son was married. It was such a blessing to share in this special day with Zach and Jacki. We also had a great time with grand babies?

More pics of the wedding will be coming soon.
