Fatherlessness

Did you know that youth from fatherless homes account for:

63 precent of youth suicides
71 percent of pregnant teenagers
90 percent of all homeless and runaway children
70 percent of juveniles in state-operated institutions
85 percent of all youth sitting in prison
85 percent of all youth who exhibit behavior disorders
80 percent of rapists motivated with displaced anger
71 percent of high school dropouts
75 percent of all adolescents in chemical abuse centers
(from the Mentoring Project Operations Manual)

It's time we (the church) come together to rewrite the fatherless story in our nation!

This is SO true!! in fact your blog is essentially the reason i created my blog!! someone recently opened my eyes to the way Christians ought to be living, so now i'm taking a stand for Christ. I'm not a fan, i'm a follower!! p.s. i'd love to follow your blog.. where's the "follow me" button?

Right! But, where are the church? What church? Church is an entertainment, get comfortable, we want to see the same people as us, we don't want mentor to the young, we want go to a mission to African and China to feel good and to look good when a kids next door is seeking for attention and crying for help! We invite our neighbor to the Church in Easter and Christmas, because our pastor said. But we never invite them for a meal or a cup of tea. Where is the Church that God wants us to be? Where?

Sara, thank you for sharing. If you read through my blog you will see that I have been asking the same question, "Where is the church?" But be careful not to develop a us vs. them mentality. In touching the lives of people next door and across the street, and on the streets, we must still go into all the world. God's plan is that all peoples, nations, tribes, and tongues hear the "good news."

I did a message to our youth group about these facts and how often people are unable to accept God's love, the love, acceptance, etc. of their heavenly father because they never recieved love from their earthly father. Praying that more people from the church step up to reach the fatherless generation and really take the time to get to know them. We live in a time where the church seems to be focusing on the number game of getting as many into the church as possible without taking the time to truly get to know and reach people on a deep and personal level.

Mandi, thanks for sharing. I am glad you are conveying these needs to your youth group. I agree with you about the numbers game. Our focus must change if we are to truly impact this fatherless generation!

We are the church the whole body of Christ, the church is not a building, but believers in Jesus Most of the so called "churches" don't even preach against sin, because it might make someone feel bad and the collection will drop. May God help us.
