Church???

The powerful videos below come from the Nike Foundation. They are doing awesome things to help girls around the world. Church, I want to quote Radical here, "Regardless of what we say, or sing or study on Sunday morning, rich people who neglect the poor are not the people of God."

I'm no Christian, nor do I "love your blog". However, since Christianity has made you more aware of globalization I do applaud your efforts in exposing the crimes and injustices committed by corporate 'evil-doers' (this includes NIKE, by the way). Moreover, I applaud you getting off your butt and doing something to help the poor, sick, enslaved and dying.

I simply believe there shouldn't be a Jesus price-tag on your efforts, though. Can't JUST help others?

If you're really concerned about third world countries, sweatshops, disease, Junta regimes and dictatorships have a worldwide evangelical movement to get the World Bank to forgive many of these countries' debts so they can use their money for food, education and medicine.

Thank you.

The reason I help the poor, sick, enslaved, and dying is because Jesus did. He calls us to do the same. He also calls us to proclaim the 'Good News' that we can have a relationship with God through His Son. As far as the Jesus price tag, ultimately there is no hope without him.

Well said. Thank you. I respect your charity-work but I disagree with your Truths. If Jesus Christ is the one motivating you then, more power to you. At least you're doing more than most people. And you're bringing up some extremely important issues!

Thanks you for your comments. There are actually over 2,000 verses in the Bible that deal with the issues of helping the poor, oppressed, fatherless, widow and others in need. There are examples in both the Old and New Testaments.

One example found in the Old Testament is Isaiah 1:17 which says, "Seek justice. Correct the oppressor. Defend the rights of the fatherless. Plead the widow's cause."

From racism to economic injustice to sex slavery, our world is full of societal sin from which Jesus came to set us free.
